Blue Bird

The pursuit of scientific understanding of our natural surroundings is a crucial part of the Earth Train mission. Only with an intimate connection to the mechanism of nature can we truly know how to work with it, rather than against it. Therefore, we've prioritized research initiatives in the preserve and have formed a few interesting scientific collaborations as a result.

Here are a few of our recent scientific initiatives:

  • Biodiversity research and monitoring with Catherine Lindell and several other partners
  • Research and projects by the Institute for Biodiversity at the California Academy of Science
  • Anthropological studies related to the Kuna and their future migration inland
  • Horticulture (especially bio-intensive agriculture) and arboriculture
  • Working with students to gather and manage climate data from local weather stations
